Ken Allen’s Vintage Astro Knife Glass Suspension

This came from an old magician’s estate purchase. Comes with a copy of the original instructions. The special glass is original but it appears that the original gimmicked knife has been replaced with a different knife that has been gimmicked as well. Comes with the 18 inch multi-colored silk shown in picture.

Effect: An empty glass is shown and filled with rice. A kitchen knife is plunged into the rice a number of times while the magician talks of the amazing adhering properties of rice and then lets go of the glass still holding the knife by the handle. The rice, and glass seem to cling, magically to the blade of the knife! The knife is then removed from the glass and the rice poured out. Again the glass is shown to be empty and a silk handkerchief is pushed into the glass with the knife. The hand holding the glass lets go and now the silk and glass seems to magically adhere to the knife, and while suspended, the silk is removed from the glass, leaving the glass suspended in mid-air!

Note: The instructions that come with this effect state that this trick can be performed within 6 inches of your audience. We feel that is not the case and think you need a little more of a distance to effectively conceal the gimmick. This should make for a good parlor or stage effect. But how you wish to present the mystery is up to you. The method is very clever.
